The Friends of Barnet Market suggested a while back that a sensible solution to the current accommodation problems that the market has would be for the old market site to be tarmacked and turned into a car park on non-market days. This would then provide a usable site for the market when it is in operation. Last week I took a group of Senior officers from Barnet around the ward and we discussed this option. I’m pleased to report that there are talks taking place between the owners of the market and the council with a view to implementing this idea. I very much hope that they can reach an agreement on this.
