Parking in Puller Rd
Yesterday afternoon I spent a pleasant couple of hours talking to residents in Puller Road about their parking problems. Puller, Sebright & Calvert Roads are some of the few remaining roads that are not included in the High Barnet controlled parking zone. They are also very narrow and were built long before parking was even a consideration. Even with resident only parking there would barely be enough space for every household to have one car.
When the issue was last looked at a few years ago residents rejected controlled parking. This was in part due to the fact that controlled parking introduces its own set of problems and costs. However the problem on non residents using up the available spaces appears to be growing so some residents are asking for the situation to be looked at again.
My opinion is that we need to trust people. Provide them with all the information about the costs and potential problems of a CPZ and let them decide if that’s what they want. If you live in any of these roads you can take my on-line survey by clicking on the link. http://highbarnet.org/lsurv/index.php?sid=22853?=en
