A review is taking place but only into the use of the police station as a patrol base which would not mean that it would be open any longer than it is now.

Further confusion was sown when the minutes of the meeting I attended where published as they seem to indicate that there was a review into opening hours. The police have confirmed that this is not what was meant. Apart from anything else I would have thought that the police would have checked a public document rather more carefully to ensure that it did not have the potential to mislead.

It was a very good meeting. One issue that was repeatedly raised was that of Barnet police station and the fact that it is not open 24 hours a day. We were told at the meeting that a review is currently underway. I have previously campaigned for the station to be open and it was extensively re-furbished with this in mind, but it never materialised. Today I have written to the Borough Commander stating my view that we need a local 24 hour police presence. I will publish the response as soon as I get it.
